Overview

The only true ocean cave dive in Australia, Fish Rock Cave is 125m long; the shallow end starts at 11m and the deep end is down around 25m This site is not only famous for the cave but also the incredible marine life that surrounds it.
Due to the rock's proximity to the continental shelf, currents wash the rock continually and bring in an abundance of marine life, including schools of Kingfish, Grey Nurse Sharks, fusiliers, blue groupers, lionfish, turtles, rays and tropical fish. More often than not fantastic clarity of water is experienced at this location, averaging 20 metres or more!

Shark Alley: On the eastern side of this rocky island is the Grey Nurse Shark zone. These graceful and magnificent creatures congregate amongst the gutters and runnels of the rock's surrounding terrain and are a must-see experience! You will also find schooling drummer, kingfish, bannerfish and batfish amonst many other fish types. Depth 20m- 35m

The Pinnacle: A twin-peaked 'mountain' that rises from 30-35m right up to 6 m off the north-east corner of the rock. At a certain time of the year (Winter-Spring) you can also find Grey Nurse Sharks lurking amongst the Pinnacle's sand gutters, as well as giant Queensland groupers and a huge amount of fish life a long the adjacent walls. Depth 7m-30m
Some of the other nearby sites include 'Land of the Giants', 'Shark Gutters', 'Black Rock', and 'Green Island'. All making for truly memorable diving!

Fish Rock is truly stunning diving and should be on everyone's list of must-do places to dive whilst in Australia!

Itinerary

Departs from Manly (169 Pittwater Rd, Manly) at 5.00pm or from the City adjacent to the entrance to The Hilton Hotel on Pitt St at 6.00pm. Fish Rock is dived from a town called South West Rocks near Kempsey around 450km North of Sydney. Drive time is about 5 hours and 30 mins. (On our trip North we will stop to have dinner too, to break up the journey)

Day One - Breakfast is at 6.30am for a 7.15am gear-up. Note; gear-up is done downstairs from the accommodation.

Depart Shop for dives around 7.30am and we will be out at sea until about 1.00pm where we will do two dives. Light refreshments are served in-between dives. The afternoon consists of lunch and a look around South West Rocks. Typically for dinner we will have a BBQ or eat at one of the local restaurants.

Day Two - Same as Day One! If this is the last day we head for home after lunch at around 3.00pm and will be back in Sydney about 8.00pm.

Terms and Conditions

The minimum Certification level required to join most PRO DIVE Sydney weekend trips is a PADI Openwater Diver (or alternative agency equivalent). There are however some trips that require a higher level of certification (and/or diver experience) due to the diving environment you will be entering (eg deeper diving beyond 18m, cavern diving or wreck diving) and you are advised to check these required levels prior to booking your place. If you are including a specialty course in conjunction with this trip, please also check the minimum certification level required to commence the course, and whether you are required to supply any specialised equipment of your own for the program.
