Overview



The Solitary Islands is truly one of Australia's great dive locations; East coast currents and the cooler upwells bathe this marine park. This gives "The Solitary's" a unique blend of Tropical and temperate marine life.

In fact 80% is tropical so you find hard corals and tropical fish all year round. Sightings of Manta rays and Leopard Sharks are common through summer and it has been known to be visited by Whale Sharks on rare occasions ,so this place has it all. Visibility averages 25m and water temp varies 18c-27c (but up in the mid-20's around Easter).

North Solitary Island-
This Island has several sites including Anemone Bay, The Steps, Canyons, Mackerel Run and Elbow Cave. The island has the most variety of Coral and Tropical Fish, but it is most famous for the serious amount of Anemone Gardens and clown fish. Some claim there is more per square meter, than anywhere else in the world. All year round you will see Grey Nurse Sharks,Hammer Head Sandbar Sharkharks, Turtles, Moorish Idols, Banner Fish several types of Angel & Butterfly Fish, plus seasonal visitors Manta Rays, Blue spotted rays and leopard Shark plus more. Depth 6m-50m suitable for the novice to the most experienced diver

North West Rock- Fish Soup
This small group of rocks is home to Fish Soup, this dive site is like a bowl of fish, with schools of Mangrove Jack, Jew Fish, Sweet Lip, Bream, Tarwhine, Trevally and seasonal visitors occasionally we see whaler sharks here as well. Depth 6m-15m.suitable for the novice and to the most experienced

Pimpernel Rock-
This a mecca for those who like big fish and Grey Nurse Sharks added in with spectacular underwater Formations. Pimpernel rises from 46m-8m and at its base has a huge archway the runs thru the bottom where you will find tonnes of baitfish and Grey Nurse Sharks. Other highlights include schooling Jew Fish up to 500 strong and 4 feet in length, King Fish hunting yellowtail scad, big eye trevally cascading over the rock and of course lot's of reef fish, fairy basslet, wrasse, wobbygong, moray eels and patrolling eagle rays. Depth 8m-40m suitable for experienced divers only

Itinerary


Departing Manly or Coogee at 3.00pm and Pitt St, Sydney CBD at 4.00pm, we will arrive at Wooli at around 9pm. We will stop for Dinner enroute.

Diving 7am-1pm each day with the afternoons free to explore the local area, play games on the beach or just chill on the jetty with a good book!

Depart Wooli around 2.00pm Easter Monday for arrival back in Sydney around 10.00pm

Terms and Conditions


The minimum Certification level required to join most PRO DIVE Sydney weekend trips is a PADI Openwater Diver (or alternative agency equivalent). There are however some trips that require a higher level of certification (and/or diver experience) due to the diving environment you will be entering (eg deeper diving beyond 18m, cavern diving or wreck diving) and you are advised to check these required levels prior to booking your place. If you are including a specialty course in conjunction with this trip, please also check the minimum certification level required to commence the course, and whether you are required to supply any specialised equipment of your own for the program.
