About This Trip
Your adventure starts with a low level picturesque flight giving you a bird’s eye view of the reef. After landing on Lizard Island you will be transferred to the Spirit of Freedom. The vessel was launched in 2002 and offers a superior level of service, rooms, meals and diving itinerary.
Dive Sites
Cod Hole
Be befriended by large potato cod when you hand feed these super-size fish weighing up to 30 kg.
Osprey Reef
Is renowned for its crystal clear waters with an average visability in excess of 30 metres. The seascape is amazing, sheer walls are laced with gorgonians, sea whip and technicolour corals rising from the infinite deep. North Horn is renowned for it’s shark action. You can expect to see silvertips, reef sharks, occasional hammerheads, school barracuda, trevally and other pelagics.
Ribbon Reef
The beautiful Ribbon Reefs are a system of 10 large reefs stretching over 100 km along the Continental Shelf. As part of the Coral Sea, it is one of the most prized dive regions of the Great Barrier Reef and sites include the sensational Steve’s Bommie, Temple of Doom and Flare Point. Lush coral gardens are surrounded by schooling fish and marine life encounters here start from the tiny pygmy seahorses to the grand manta rays.
