Montague Island is part of the newly established 85,000 hectare Batemans Marine Park covering a large range of marine habitats extending out to the Continental Shelf. Montague Island offers a magical diving experience where you can swim alongside hundreds of curious seals and a myriad of marine species. Dive Sites
Seal Diving 10 - 30 metres
These dives are major fun. Imagine diving with over 1800 very friendly Australian & New Zealand Fur Seals. The ride out from the mainland to the island is a real adventure as you may be able to see humpbacks breaching and pods of dolphins cruising alongside the boat. On the island you can watch the seals bask in the sunshine and below water you can enjoy the pure pleasure of playing with these wide-eyed creatures. The seals love to show off their agility, tug your fins and copy your summersaults. This is a male, non-breeding colony and as such the island doesn’t attract sharks. There are over five different sites so no mattter the weather conditions the diving will always be amazing.
Auginsh Reef 10 - 30 metres
Located just south of Montague Island, this dive site is a maze of canyons and large fans growing from the walls with sightings of seals, kingfish, tuna and tropical groupers.
